MN Miracle New Year's Eve Celebration hosted by the Hilton raises $75,000 to benefit The Miracles of Mitch Foundation

Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport - Mall of America Hotel hosted the 4th Annual Minnesota Miracle New Year's Eve Celebration to benefit The Miracles of Mitch Foundation. This year's event was hosted by Sports Anchor, Eric Perkins, from NBC KARE 11.

In the spirit of Mitch Chepokas, a boy whose life was cut short by cancer at the age of 9, The Miracles of Mitch Foundation was formed to support the families of children battling cancer. Since its inception in 2003, the foundation has helped these families maintain their quality of life by: enabling them to make mortgage, rent and automobile payments as well as purchase groceries; sponsoring a summer camp for current and past pediatric cancer patients and their siblings; hosting Minnesota Miracle weekend getaways; and creating specially tailored quality-of-life initiatives for kids with an advanced stage of cancer.

The event this year was led by Co-Chairs Lori Day from M&I Bank and Christine Finn from Medica who extended special thanks to the many sponsors, volunteers and committee members who made this event so successful.

General Manager, Charles Goldberg, proudly presented Steve & Becky Chepokas, Founders of The Miracles of Mitch Foundation, with a check in the amount of $75,000 from proceeds generated by the sale of overnight event packages, live & silent auction, corporate sponsorships and fund-a-need donations.

Fifty (50) cancer families participated in the Minnesota Miracle, a program designed to offer them a weekend getaway of family memories and fun. Almost weekly, this collaborative program between MOMF, the Hilton MSP Airport Hotel and the Mall of America provides these families with two adjoining rooms for two nights at the Hilton, a pre-paid Visa gift card for a shopping spree, gas card, passes to Nickelodeon Universe and Underwater Adventures, a Mall of America® Super Savings Coupon Book, and breakfast each morning at the Hilton.
